The Hospice House Endowment

Funding a Stay at Hospice House

Hospice House is an ideal setting where families can deal with end-of-life issues -- in a quiet and dignified surrounding where devotion can be affirmed, where forgiveness for past failures can be sought, where estrangements can be healed, where peace and acceptance can be found, and where final good-byes can be spoken.

The hospice benefit provided by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance policies covers most of the cost of basic hospice care.  However, the additional costs of room, board, and around-the-clock staffing at Hospice House are not covered by these plans.  Hospice House residents and their families are asked to compensate Hospice of the Piedmont for these expenses, according to ability.

The Board of Directors of Hospice of the Piedmont is determined to make Hospice House available to those who need it during the last weeks of life, without regard to their financial circumstances, and to keep the costs passed on to patients and families as reasonable as possible.

Families with the means to do so are asked to compensate Hospice of the Piedmont for room, board, and other expenses on a sliding scale based on income.  Patients who are uninsured or unable to share in these costs are never denied access to Hospice House.  Funding for care of these community members is provided by the Hospice House Endowment.
